5e Jump Calculator

Welcome to 5e Jump Calculator, a straightforward online tool created to fix a common D&D 5e table slowdown: working out jump distances.

If you’ve ever been the player who stopped a session to look up the exact jumping rules, debated how far a character can really leap, or tried to remember which stats affect jump distance, this tool was built with you in mind.

What Is 5e Jump Calculator?
5e Jump Calculator is a simple online helper that automates the D&D 5e jump math so you don’t have to.

You provide basic character info—like Strength score, height, and a few relevant conditions—and the calculator instantly shows your:

Maximum long jump distance High jump height Maximum reach during a jump Key distances based on the 5e rules as written

No back-of-the-napkin math, no rules confusion—just clear results you can rely on.

Why I Built This Tool
This site was the result of real table frustration.

As a Dungeon Master and player, I kept running into the same situation:

A player asks, "Can I make that jump?" and everyone stops to argue about the math.

The 5e rules for jumping are straightforward, just not when you’re under time pressure. I was tired of re-reading the same paragraph every few sessions, so I took the obvious next step: I wrote a little web app.

5e Jump was originally just a quick private tool, and then I cleaned it up and put it online in case other tables were running into the same slowdown.

How It Works (In Plain Language)
This tool uses the official Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition jumping rules as written in the PHB. In simple terms, it:

Uses your Strength to set how far and how high you can jump Accounts for running vs standing jumps Factors in your height and reach where appropriate Sticks closely to RAW and avoids house-rule shortcuts

You never have to think about the math directly. The calculator does the work and outputs just what you need for play.

Using This Tool During Play
5e Jump Calculator is meant to be:

Quick enough for live play Understandable even if you’re new to 5e Accurate enough for rules lawyers

You can use it to:

Verify a jump before the roll Plan interesting movement options during encounter prep Resolve player stunts without bogging things down

Just enter the stats and read the output. It’s meant to fade into the background, not become the focus of the session.

What’s Next?
Right now, 5e Jump Calculator is focused on doing one thing well: it handles jump distances cleanly.

In the future, I might:

Expand into other movement calculators Support more edge cases and optional rules Improve the layout and usability based on feedback

If you notice an issue, or if you want to request a feature, you’re welcome to contact me. This site is meant to make your games smoother, and your input directly guides future changes.

Thanks for using 5e Jump Calculator. I hope it saves you a few minutes—and a few arguments—every session.
